Christina Aguilera got her start at an early age singing for Star Search and other shows where she was known for being the big voice in a small body. Although her childhood was abusive and hard, she forced her way through the pain to reach success in the music industry. Through trial she prevailed, and is now one of America’s most famous singers.

Early Life:

Christina Aguilera began singing at a young age. Her father was very abusive, and she and her mother can attest to his emotional controlling nature. As she grew older, she tried out for competitions, and singing at local talent shows which gave her the edge throughout her career, yet criticism through her life. But that didn’t stop Aguilera, she kept on singing, and would later be seen as one of the top vocalists of her time.

Career:

Her career first started when she joined the variety show "the Mickey Mouse Club" on the Disney Channel. She got her real break when she sang for Disney’s Movie Mulan. She sang "Reflection" which earned her a record deal with RCA Records. The song was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song.

Through the next few years, in the early 2000s, Christina’s image changed to one that had a negative impact on her listeners. When she released her Dirrty music video, it wasn’t accepted quite as openly as her previous songs, but she shrugged it off, telling the industry that she was displaying who she really was, and wasn’t catering to an image that wasn’t her.

Later on in 2006, Aguilera’s image shifted again. She was beginning to take on a more mature role, and produced a CD with more of a 20s - 40s style that would reinvent her singing career.  At the 49th Grammy Awards, Aguilera won the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Aint No Other Man."
