Profession: Actor
Date of Birth: June 11th, 1986
Hometown: Los Angeles, California

Shia Labeouf started his career at an extremely young age, but not as the star he is now, but as a goof-ball, dirty mouthed ten year old who promoted himself in third person as his own manager.  He started off as a star of a Disney Channel show and then moved on to play in larger roles that have made him an acclaimed face in the film industry.

Early Life:

Shia comes from a long line of performers, so his natural tendency is to follow in their footsteps. As Shia grew up in his Jewish home, his father was placed in a drug rehabilitation clinic for an addiction to heroin and his parents later got divorced. His mother and struggled financially, but they made it work, and he has no complaints about the life he lived.

Career:

Shia Labeouf’s career started at age ten when he would perform at comedy clubs and around his neighborhood. However, since the stand-up life wasn’t what Shia wanted, he decided to take it upon himself to promote himself to agents he found in the phone book.

His career percolated on the Disney Channel with made-for-television movies like the Even Stevens Movie and Tru Confessions. Disney also gave him the role in Holes which pulled in the attention of Steven Spielberg.

Throughout the years as an actor, Shia forced himself into roles that called for maturity beyond his years. He didn’t want to be type-cast as a child, so he would seek after roles that would ask him to curse or take drugs.

To date 2007 could be the most successful year in Shia’s career. He had three hit movies and finally gave him serious star power. The movies were Disturbia, Transformers, and Surf’s up.

Angelina Jolie

,

Name: Angelina Jolie – Angelina Jolie Voight
Profession: Actor
Date of Birth: June 4th, 1975
Hometown: Las Angeles, California
Marital Status: Divorced from Billy Bob Thornton
Currently With Brad Pitt

Although Angelina Jolie has not been in Hollywood long, she has definitely made a name for herself on many occasions. She has developed from self-conscious teen to action heroine and humanitarian. Although her home life and parental examples were never perfect, Angelina has still risen to the occasion to be a great (and continues to be an increasingly great) success in the film industry.

Early Life:

Angelina Jolie was born in LA, but was raised in New York when her mother and father divorced a little after Angelina was born. Her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who died recently of cancer, had custody over Angelina and her brother James Haven Voight, and divorced actor Jon Voight to live in New York. Although her father was an actor, Angelina does not give him the credit for her goal of becoming a movie star. Jolie would go to the movies with her mother as she was growing older, and this sparked in her a passion for acting that would soon lead her to international acclaim.

Early on in Angelina Jolie’s life, she suffered from low self-esteem. Although it’s hard to imagine, being made fun of for being thin and having braces seemed to take its toll on Jolie, she became depressed and had issues with cutting herself.

Career:

Angelina Jolie’s career almost started when she was 14 when broke into modeling and shooting music videos. She also went into theatre and tried to pursue a relationship with her father, who at the time taught her how to become a better actor by observation, and taking on the traits of those around her. It was not long until Jolie started acting in films.

Some of her earlier films and projects gave her little to no acknowledgement, although some critics saw potential, and hoped that she would continue on

Her real claim to fame in the film industry didn’t come until later on in her career when she was cast as a living version of the popular video game character Lara Croft in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, which received mixed American reviews, but had a very accepting fan base internationally and a large cult following.  The role gave her an edge to be able to play other roles such as a sequel to the film, and another one of her most popular parts as Jane Smith in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, co-starring her new partner and father of her only biological child, Brad Pitt.

While Angelina enjoys the attention she receives from being an A-list movie star, her attention seems to be more pointed toward using her celebrity status to help those around the world. She and Brad Pitt have adopted three children from around the world, and have impacted the lives of refugees, charities, and individuals throughout the world from Afghanistan to Haiti.

Denzel Washington

,,,,

Name: Denzel Washington - Denzel Hayes Washington Jr.
Profession: Actor
Date of Birth: December 28th, 1954
Hometown: Mt. Vernon, New York
Marital Status: Married to Pauletta Washington

Denzel Washington is one of the prominent actors of this generation and continues to bring great acting to the screen. Growing up in a home shattered by divorce, Denzel found interest in acting. After he graduated college, his career began. He now is one of the most successful actors of today.

Denzel’s Early Life:

Denzel grew up in a Christian home. His father was a minister, and Denzel was not allowed to watch movies. “101 Dalmatians and King of Kings, that was the extent of it.” Denzel says. When Washington was 14 years old, his parents divorced, and he was sent to boarding school, and later started college, which was where he fell in love with acting.

Denzel’s Career:

Early on in Washington’s career, he found himself on small-screen shows and movies. He finally broke into film when he landed a role in Richard Attenborough’s Cry Freedom. He was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, and has continued to find success in the film industry since.

The 90’s were a busy year for Denzel. He was featured in over 18 titles in ten years, and was known for being one of Hollywood’s most successful leading men. Not to mention being named the Sexiest Man Alive by People in 1996. But the pinnacle of success had yet to be reached.

Although the previous years were busy Denzel kept making movie after movie. While he was filming movies like Training Day, Man on Fire, and Déjà Vu, Washington still managed to put his family first and has been married to his wife since 1983, which proves that he is not only a success on the screen, but off the screen as well.

He and his wife, Pauletta Washington, met on the set of Wilma, his first major acting job. Since then they have had the fortune of raising four children (John, Katia, Olivia, and Malcolm) despite being extremely busy and successful in Hollywood; an achievement too few actors can boast.

So how did Denzel Washington find his success? Was it handed to him? “I’d be more frightened by not using whatever abilities I’d been given.” He’s said. “I’d be more frightened by procrastination and laziness.” Through hard work and determination, Denzel Washington has found success around every corner, and he’s seized each job as if it is the only one he’s ever had.

Tom Cruise

Name: Tom Cruise - Thomas Cruise Mapother IV
Profession:
Actor and Producer
Date of Birth:
July 3rd, 1962
Hometown:
Syracuse, New York
Marital Status: Currently Married to Katie Holmes

No one would have seen Tom Cruise as a future celebrity when he was a kid. He came from a broken family and moved around a lot as a child, but that didn’t stop him from becoming one of the highest paid actors in the industry. Tom Cruise would later be known as one of the most important and powerful celebrities to date.

Childhood:
At a young age, Tom experienced hardship. From his parents divorce when he was 12, to being abused by his father, Thomas Cruise Mapother III. He learned from the start that not everyone has the greatest of intentions, but it never stopped Tom’s desire to succeed. Tom Cruise’s goal to be a Catholic Priest was later subsided by his affinity for acting and his dreams of becoming a celebrity.

Tom’s Career:
The beginning of Tom Cruise’s career is much like other well-known celebrities. After hard-knocks and small parts, Cruise finally landed a little role in Franco Zeffirelli’s romantic drama Endless Love. This would be the spring board of what would later be one of the most famous (and well paid) film stars of the century.

Following roles would increase his paycheck and his popularity. In the next decade, Cruise saw a major increase in jobs and public appeal. Some of the films he starred in the 80s and early 90s included Risky Business, Top Gun (a job he had initially decided to turn down, but then changed his mind and earned a $2,000,000 paycheck), Rain Man (which was nominated for eight Academy Awards), and Born on the Fourth of July - the movie that won him a Golden Globe.

His success didn’t stop there. He met the nineties and early 2000s with some of the most popular movies of all time. Titles which included Jerry McGuire and the quote “Show me the money!”, and the entire Mission Impossible franchise of  movies have skyrocketed Tom Cruise into the public eye. However, this publicity has had its ups and its downs.

Having such a public and famous life has made Tom’s personal life a spectacle in most circles. Everything from his marriage to Katie Holmes,  his religion and sexual orientation have come under the public criticism since his climb to blockbuster fame. But this does not diminish the fact that Tom is one of the highest paid and sought after figures in Hollywood. He is worthy of the phrase: “Show me the money!”

List of Tom’s Movies:

2007 - Lions for Lambs
2006 - Mission: Impossible III
2005 - War of the Worlds
2004 – Collateral

  • Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor for The Last Samurai.
  • Tom was also labeled by People magazine throughout the nineties as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world

Tom’s Couch Jumping:

Probably one of the most critiqued moments in Tom’s career was when he was on Oprah’s show professing his love for his new girlfriend Katie Holmes. While he was talking, Tom got excited and began bouncing around the stage. Although some would view this as cute behavior, others would see this as a negative gesture and have criticized Cruise for his immaturity.

Tom’s Past Relationships:

Cruise has been married to three women throughout his career, and has dated a fourth. He was married to Mimi Rogers (3 years), Nicole Kidman (11 Years), dated Penelope Cruz for close to 10 months, and is now currently married to Katie Holmes. They have been married since November 18th, 2006.

Brad Pitt

Name: Brad Pitt - William Bradley Pitt
Profession: Actor and Producer

Date of Birth:
December 18th, 1963

Hometown:
Shawnee, Oklahoma

Marital Status: Divorced to Actress Jennifer Aniston, Currently With Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt started his day-dreaming as a young movie-loving kid. As he grew older, he knew he had to do something big. He was met with success in Hollywood, and he’s a face that the film industry will never forget. From Journalism student to the “Sexiest Man Alive,” Brad Pitt is a legend in the film industry.

Childhood: William “Brad” Pitt was born in Shawnee Oklahoma. His family then moved to Springfield, Missouri. He grew up playing sports and acting at his high school and later went to the University of Missouri to the School of Journalism. This didn’t suit Brad and he dreamed of an acting career in Hollywood. Brad dropped out school and headed for Beverly Hills.

Brad’s Career: Early on Brad Pitt had to make a living driving a limousine, but soon began getting acting roles in television. He floated around many different scenes in such sitcoms as “Head of the Class” and “Growing Pains”, as well as many soap operas like “Dallas” and “Another World.” But none of these would get Brad Pitt the fame that he wanted and audiences now know him for; and these roles barely paid the bills.

While he was building small screen experience, Brad finally got a roll in a 1989 horror flick, that earned him a whopping 12,000 dollars, called “Cutting Class.” This was the beginning of his credited big-screen work that propelled him into the eyes of movie-goers everywhere. From there, Brad Pitt shot into the 90’s like a shooting star that would soon be a house-hold name in the mid to late-nineties.

The mid-nineties were a busy year for Pitt. He filmed 4 major movies; all of which showcased his amazing talent, and ability to play vastly different roles. These titles are “Interview with the Vampire,” “Legends of the Fall,” “Se7en,”, and “Twelve Monkeys,” in which his role landed him a nomination for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actor.

Since the middle of the 90’s, Brad Pitt has yet to slow down in his climb to fame, as well as his adoration for the world communities. Although since then he has made great characters come to life in such films as “Fight Club,” “Ocean’s Eleven, Twelve, and Thirteen,” “Troy,” “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” and “Babel,” Pitt has used his fame to be able to catapult awareness for AIDS research, and other global health problems that need addressing.

Brad’s Big Controversy: Although there couldn’t possibly be enough tabloid coverage on the two, one of the highlights of Brad Pitt’s career was his relationship with “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” co-star Angelina Jolie, whom he began dating in 2005, shortly after his divorce with Jennifer Aniston. The two were seen increasing their time together, and then surprised everyone when Jolie made it public that she was having Brad’s baby. The two now live in California and Louisiana.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus performing as Hannah Montana in concert

Name: Miley Cyrus “Hannah Montana”
Date of Birth: 11,23,1997
Place of Birth: Franklin, Tennessee
Profession: Actress and Singer

Miley Cyrus, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus’s daughter, has made quite a name for herself on Disney’s new hit show “Hannah Montana.” The story revolves around a teenage girl, Miley Stewart, who has a double life as the pop star Hannah Montana. The show (which broke rating records in the entire Disney Channel’s existence) hit the Disney Channel on March 24th in the year 2006, and Miley Cyrus has not looked back since.

Miley Cyrus was born in November of 1992, in Nashville, Tennessee to country singer Billy Ray (”Achy Breaky Heart” guy) and his wife Leticia Cyrus. Her real name is Destiny Hope Cyrus, but gained the nick name of “Miley” because of the grin she continually brings to each day.

When Cyrus was nine years old, she began to show an interest in acting. She guest starred on her dad’s show “Doc” for her first taste on camera. It stuck. Later, she would be found in Tim Burton’s “Big Fish,” made appearances in High School musical 2, as well as music videos, and country music programs.

When Miley Cyrus approached Disney to audition for the Hannah Montana show, she tried to make the “best friend” role, Lisa Truscott. Producers didn’t think she was big enough for the role, but ultimately called her back for another audition after her 12th birthday. She was placed in the role of Hannah Montana, and has shone through as a teenage star ever since.

Miley Cyrus with Father Billy Ray CyrusMiley Cyrus was given four awards for Hannah Montana in 2007. Out of the four, she was given two Teen Choice Awards for “Choice TV Actress: Comedy” as well as “Choice Summer Artist.” This is no surprise, as even her co-stars give her props. 29 year old Jason Earles, who’s Miley’s big brother, Jackson in the show says that “Miley really did come out of nowhere and suddenly become this sensation.”

What does this 15 year old say to all of the fame? USA Today says that Miley enjoys the fans that support her, but she remembers when no one would notice her in the mall: “Everyone would be like, ‘You’re on a show? What?’” She says. “Now it’s insane. Managers and everyone hate me. They’re like, ‘Please get out of the store,’ because it gets so insane. It’s pretty crazy, how fast it all came.”

To see this new rising starlet, watch the Hannah Montana shows on the Disney Channel; Fridays at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
